Folate 400 mcg (5 MTHF) Drops
Folate 400 mcg (5 MTHF) Drops
Product description
Natural folate in drop form. Folic acid/natural folate (B11) is a water-soluble vitamin from the vitamin B complex.
Women who wish to become pregnant or are pregnant are advised to take 400 mcg (micrograms) of folic acid daily. Folic acid contributes to the growth and early development of the unborn child during pregnancy.
Why choose VitaminFit Folate drops?
VitaminFit Folate drops contain the biologically active form of folic acid: 5-MTHF. This natural and easily absorbable form is directly available to the body without first having to be converted in the liver, as is the case with synthetic folic acid.
The supplement is available in drop form, making it easy to dose with a dosing pipette. The drops are quickly absorbed through the oral mucosa and are pure, 100% plant-based, natural and free from artificial additives, preservatives or fillers. A pure choice for anyone who needs extra folate, for example when trying to conceive, during pregnancy or when there is an increased need.
What else is folic acid important for?
Folate contributes to a healthy pregnancy, among other things by supporting the early development of the baby's nervous system. A good folate status can reduce the risk of spina bifida, cleft lip and cleft palate in their child.
* The beneficial effect is obtained with an intake of 400 mcg/uq of extra folic acid per day, at least one month before and up to three months after pregnancy.
Folic acid also has important functions in addition to its importance during pregnancy and when planning to have children. For example, it contributes to the formation of red and white blood cells and the formation of DNA in every cell and is important for the proper functioning of the nervous system. Folic acid also supports the immune system. That is why folic acid is important, even if you are not pregnant or planning to have children.
Folic acid or folate: what is the difference?
Folate: Folate is the natural form of vitamin B11. The name is derived from the Latin word “folium”, which means leaf. The active form of vitamin B11 is a folate known as 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF).
Folate is the form found in food and is the form in which this vitamin is active in the body. Folic acid leaves the body in small amounts via urine. To stay healthy, a new amount of folate (natural folic acid) is therefore needed through food.
Vitamin B11 is an essential nutrient that occurs naturally as folate. Folate serves many important functions in the body. For example, it plays an important role in cell growth and DNA formation. In various countries, folate is the same as vitamin B11 or vitamin B9.
Folic acid: Folic acid is a synthetic form of vitamin B11, also known as pteroylmonoglutamic acid. The human body does not seem to be able to process folic acid very well; it has difficulty converting it into the active form of vitamin B11.
Sources of folate in food
Folate occurs in the form of folate and is particularly abundant in green (leafy) vegetables (endive, lettuce, spinach, Brussels sprouts and broccoli). It is also found in legumes (green beans, peas, lentils), fruit, wholemeal products and, to a lesser extent, meat and dairy products.
Extra folic acid during pregnancy
The body can only store a small amount of folic acid and is therefore dependent on the amount obtained from food.
If you want to become pregnant, your body needs a higher dose of folic acid. Eating healthily is not enough to ensure you get the right amount. It is therefore recommended that you strengthen your body with an extra 400 mcg of folic acid in the form of a dietary supplement at least 1 month before conception and during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. You can start taking folate (natural folic acid) as soon as you decide to have a baby.
